Hounslow is
a very convenient place to stay. There is an extensive
public transport system providing frequent links to
Central London and Heathrow
Travel cards are the most economical
way of getting around the city. A one day Travel Card
(cheaper after 9.30am and at week-ends) gives unlimited
travel all day on the Tube, Bus and National Rail Services
within the London Transport Zone.
HOW TO
GET AROUND
UNDERGROUND
(TUBE)
Hounslow Central Underground Station,
on the Piccadilly Line, is 15 minutes walk away from the
cottage. The Piccadilly Line, which is the most reliable
and fast line of the London Underground, can whisk you to
Central London in 30 minutes. Trains run every 3-5
minutes.
RAILWAY
Hounslow Railway Station is 15 minutes
walking distance from the cottage. South West Trains can
take you to London Waterloo in under 30 minutes.
BUSES
The bus stop is a minute’s walk from
the cottage where buses to Hounslow East Bus Station are
very frequent. From there, other services to local areas
and West London are available.
ROAD
Hounslow has excellent connections by
road to the rest of Britain. The M4 runs through Hounslow
and the M25 is nearby. From the M25 the motorway network
of the UK is accessible.
TO AND
FROM AIRPORTS
HEATHROW
London Underground Limited runs trains
from Heathrow Airport on the Piccadilly Line. The
duration of the journey to Hounslow Central, where we are,
is 10 minutes.
GATWICK
The
best way of getting from Gatwick Airport to the cottage
is by car. The journey takes about 40 minutes.
SHOPS
Hounslow has two main shopping areas
with over 200 shops. They are 5-10 minutes walk from the
cottage. Hounslow pedestrian friendly High Street has
trees and plenty of seats but no traffic. There is an
array of cafés, pubs, and places to eat. Many of the
major stores are here including Marks & Spencer, Dixons,
Boots and Superdrug. The Treaty Centre is the indoor
shopping area and has a great range of shops. There are
opticians, card shops, jewellers and more. The Centre is
open for late night shopping on Thursdays and there is
plenty of space in the multi-storey car park. Parking is
free in the evening and on Sundays.

EATING OUT
There are a wide range of restaurants
and cafés to choose from in Hounslow. This is a
cosmopolitan area and most styles of cuisine are
represented.
LOCAL ACTIVITIES
Walking, cycling, golf. There are two
golf courses within easy reach. The Hounslow Heath Golf
Course offers an 18 hole/par 60 course measuring 5,901
yards with some of the most challenging and picturesque
holes in the area. The Airlinks Golf Course offers an 18
hole course measuring 6,000 yards.
